LIVE MORE GENTLY ON THE EARTH: The 100-mile Thanksgiving
Interested in reigning in your consumption habits in time for the holidays? Consider a more thoughtful approach to your Thanksgiving feast: commit to eating only foods grown within a 100-mile radius of your home. Why should you do this? Its an opportunity to get to know and support local farmers, support our local economy, and avoid the packaging, transportation, and carbon-emission costs of purchasing food produced farther away.

We are blessed to live in an area that is agriculturally rich and there is an abundance of fresh foods to include in our holiday meals that the pilgrims would have been grateful for. Interested in learning more? Read the article “Thanksgiving like the Pilgrims wished for” from the 11/10/06 PA Weekly at: http://www.paloaltoonline.com/weekly/story.php?story_id=3341.
