January Challenges: ResultsThis is a featured page

RESULTS OF OUR JANUARY POLL ARE IN! Over 50 of you took our poll about January’s Cooling Challenges, a great response. Thank You! The graph below represents how many of those polled were "Already Doing" each Challenge, how many adopted each Challenge since signing the Peninsula Cool Campaign Pledge (Did It!), and how many are still plotting how to get started (Not Yet).

January Challenges: Results - Peninsula School Cool

WOW! Our team was inspired to see such positive numbers: they tell us that many of you are being conscientious and getting engaged in doing what you can to reduce your energy use. For the survey respondents’ new actions alone (not including those who’d already done the challenge items prior to our campaign), over 17.11 TONS of CO2 will be saved! This roughly translates to the amount of CO2 saved by planting 1369 new trees, or taking 3.1 cars off of the roads for one year. And that is from just 30% of pledging families completing just a few challenge items: Imagine how much CO2 we can save together if we all keep working on new monthly cooling challenges to reduce our energy use at home! Feels good, right?

Here is some of what particiapents are saying:

• This is a good idea and a way to keep conscious all year.
• Thank you
• I keep going to events or parties where they give out those light bulbs you mention. Keys school did a short energy saving program. You might link this with other schools, since it is the same content.
• We really appreciate the monthly suggestions--this is a format that works for us. We have moved from a feeling that "it is all so overwhelming that we do not know where to begin" to "ok--we can do this" thanks to you.
• Keep it up. I am sure it will be a slow start, but every change in habits is worthwhile.
• Liking it a lot.
• We had our furnace inspected and ended up replacing it with a much more efficient model.
• I appreciate the help in moving further and faster in a direction I was already moving. The lists of specifics and the idea of being somewhat accountable is helpful in keeping track and doing things, rather than doing it "later." Thank you for your time and energy.
• I think it's great that you're doing this! We're hoping to make more changes by going solar for our house, and getting a cleaner burning car. And using a cloths line to dry larger items. And I'm using Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers that I wash myself! (Which I love and are very easy)
