May Poll, Raffle, and Thanks
6/7/07
DON’T FORGET TO TAKE THE MAY POLL! …and any other polls you may
have missed before next Tuesday, June 12th if you’d like to be eligible for the
“I Took All The Polls” Raffle. The Raffle prize is a terrific assortment of items
(see below), but we hope you’ll take the polls to support our community: share
how your family has been doing with the monthly challenges and add any
CO2 savings you’ve achieved in recent months to the community total. With
50 families reporting, we’ve saved over THIRTY TONS of C02 a mighty
accomplishment. If all 162 pledging families reported, what will the actual total
be? Help us find out!
The RAFFLE PRIZE consists of an assortment of very cool items like a trial
membership with Eat With The Seasons, a wonderful CSA (Community
Supported Agriculture) that delivers fresh organic produce from local farms (no
need to shop); organic wine; organic free-trade coffee; organic chocolate and
dried fruit; a 3-way CFL; a magnetic flashlight (shake to produce energy to run
it), and more. The winner will be announced at 3pm next Tuesday, June 12th.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE CAMPAIGN? The rock jar, the web site, the
polls, the CFL handout, all the components that made up this campaign: Did
they work for you or not? What could we have done better? Do you have ideas
to improve the experience for future participants? Would you like the campaign
to return next year? A Campaign Feedback Questionnaire will be emailed to
you in the coming weeks and we hope you’ll share your thoughts. If you’d rather
receive a hard copy, contact Ellen Wilkinson at 650-533-0868.
THANK YOU FROM THE PENINSULA COOL TEAM! The Peninsula Cool
Campaign was born out of a group brainstorm during the Fall Meeting last
October over what we can do to fight global warming. It sparked an idea for a project and thanks to the 162 families that pledged to participate, we’ve
managed to achieve tangible, meaningful change in many of our lives on behalf
of the environment. Some of the challenges our community has undertaken
have been small, some have gone much further, but it ALL counts. We’ve
started a conversation and change is underway.
As a result of our efforts, Acterra has decided to formally adopt our campaign
as a model to build a program on that will be offered to other communities! So once again, the Peninsula community’s pioneering spirit has been a catalyst
for positive social change and you should all be proud for helping to make that happen. Thanks to all the families who have taken part and tried to change
their energy use habits on behalf of the planet and our children’s futures.
